N Scale layout announcement

The Western Maryland Railway Historical Society is re-constructing its N-scale display layout at its museum in Union Bridge , Maryland , and is seeking the assistance of n-scalers in the Baltimore , Washington and southern Pennsylvania areas to assist with the construction and ongoing operation of the layout.

The track plan is designed for basic display operation, but it includes a comprehensive representation of the WM main line from Union Bridge to the mountains west of Thurmont.

The goal is to construct a top-quality museum exhibit that features authentic scale WM trains from various periods rolling through authentic scenes of the railroad.  Only top-quality products are being employed in the construction, from the steel and hardwood framing to the code 55 Micro-Engineering track.

With rare exception, structures on the layout will be scale reproductions of actual buildings, rather than commercial kits.  Model builders with an interest in this type of work are especially needed.

Membership in the Society is a requirement, but annual dues are only $25, and include the annual color calendar and a year's subscription to the Blue Mountain Express, the society's magazine.  Work sessions will typically be Sunday afternoons during the museum's regular hours (1-4), but should be coordinated with project manager Jeff Adams. JAdamsRCS@aol.com

Assistance will also be needed to research historical facts about each location on the layout for use on placards that will describe the towns and operations.

For more information, contact me, or write the Society at PO Box 395 , Union Bridge , MD 21791 .

Thanks for your help.

Lee Weldon
